EXT. ANOTHER ROCKY CANYON - A FEW DAYS LATER - MORNING
Corwin leads Dolph, Serena, Hewie and several other mutants. They are all on horseback.
A monstrous, mournful cry fills the valley.
DOLPH
My God! What was that!
CORWIN
That was our new ally.
The canyon opens into a small clearing. Corwin and company dismount. The clearing
borders a cliff.
Corwin walks to the edge of the cliff. Dolph and Serena follow.
At the base of the cliff is a small valley.
The valley is almost filled with the monstrous form of a mutated Cyclops.
Four sets of arms struggle against chains constructed of light and fire.
A mass of slithering tentacles twist from its legs just above its cloven hoofs. A horn the size
of a tree juts from its bald scull.
A dark pit opens at the beasts feet. A dark green mist flows from the pit to the Cyclops.
DOLPH
My God!
CORWIN
Wrong again! He had nothing to
do with this job.
DOLPH
It's incredible. Huge.
The Cyclops screams again. They all over their ears in pain.
CORWIN
Shut up! You big stupid shit!
The Cyclops looks in their direction. It does not seem to see them.
DOLPH
Does it know we're here?
CORWIN
Probably not. I've got a spell of confusion
on it.
DOLPH
What's that pit for? What's that mist?
CORWIN
That particular pit is actually a gate to
one of the deeper levels of hell. The
mist is the spirit of the demon that fills
the Cyclops.
Dolph gives Corwin a questioning look.
DOLPH
I don't like the sound of any of this.
Do you know what you're doing?
SERENA
Good, you talk some sense into him.
CORWIN
Come on, Babe, cut me some slack.
SERENA
He is loosing one of the dark ones on
the world. One of the nameless ones.
She points at the mist.
SERENA
This is older than the world itself.
DOLPH
Will it take orders?
CORWIN
Actually, it's a kind of spray and
pray weapon.
DOLPH
Say what?
CORWIN
When I let it go, I just point it in the
right direction and let it mow down
everything in sight.
DOLPH
What if it decides it doesn't want to
go in the right direction?
A hand flashes. Lightning leaps from Corwin's hand and strikes the canyon wall.
An avalanche descends.
CORWIN
I've got some special dealer incentives.
DOLPH
Suppose it does what you want and
defeats Malvalle and his demons?
How are you going to turn it off?
Corwin motions Dolph to follow.
He unrolls some canvas from a pack horse. He removes an antitank weapon that
is strapped to the canvas. He hands the missile to Dolph.
CORWIN
Army surplus, laws missile. I had
a hell of a time conjuring these up.
Dolph looks hesitantly back over the cliff.
DOLPH
Its awfully big. Are you sure this
will do it?
CORWIN
I got ten of 'em.
SERENA
Corwin! Quick! Come!
Corwin and Dolph run to Serena's side.
SERENA
Look!
The mist has stopped spilling from the pit.
Intelligence has replaced confusion in the beast's single eye.
CORWIN
It's sentient. Hewey! Take the others
back to the castle. Tell Thin Man to
signal the attack.
HEWEY
Hewey go big fast!!!
The Cyclops tries to sit up. For the first time it notices its magical chains.
It shrugs them off and stands.
CORWIN
Uh-oh. Its not supposed to do that.
The Cyclops stands.
DOLPH
Its not pointed in the right direction.
CORWIN
No shit, Sherlock!
DOLPH
Aren't you going to zap it?
CORWIN
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm getting psyched up.
SERENA
Do your psyching quickly, Beloved. It looks
to be an impatient beast.
Corwin takes a deep breath. He lets loose with a double fisted lightening bolt.
The bolt hits the Cyclops in the stomach.
It staggers back. It spies Corwin and Company on the cliff. It looks furious.
DOLPH
I don't like this.
The Cyclops charges the cliff with a deafening scream of hate.
CORWIN
Run away!!!!!!
Dolph and Serena are already on their horses before Corwin even turns around.
Corwin leaps to his Horse and follows Dolph and Serena down the canyon.
Two monstrous hands grab the edge of the cliff.
The Cyclops pulls itself up. It spies the retreating horses. It screams.
EXT. THE FAR END OF THE CANYON - SAME
Corwin, Dolph, and Serena exit the canyon.
The Cyclops comes into view. It stops to punch the sides of the canyon walls. There
is an explosion of rock.
The Cyclops enters the intersection of two paths. It stops. It looks in both directions.
It takes the left.
Dolph pulls up his horse.
DOLPH
Corwin! It's going the wrong way!
Corwin and Serena stop. Corwin joins Dolph.
CORWIN
Hey! You big, stupid, one eyed, nameless
shit! You're going the wrong way.
The monster doesn't hear Corwin.
Corwin unleashes another bolt of energy. The creature is hit in the back.
It screams in rage, turns and screams again.
It looks for something to throw.
CORWIN
Shit! Run away!
Once again Dolph and Serena are already gone.
The Cyclops tosses a boulder at Corwin. Corwin's horse barely dodges the rock.
The nameless demon takes off after the trio.
EXT. THE ROCKY FIELDS OF THE WASTED LANDS - SAME
As Corwin rides he pulls a headset from a saddlebag. He dons the headset.
CORWIN
Thin Man! Are your men in position?!
(beat)
Good. Remember stay out of the Cyclop's way.
It's seriously pissed off!
As the three ride, Balrog the dragon zooms into view. He lands farther down the path.
Serena pulls her horse up next to the dragon. She dismounts the horse to mount the
dragon.
Dolph and Corwin pull up next to her.
CORWIN
Remember Sweets, don't let Balrog
engage the Cyclops.
BALROG
You never let me have any fun.
SERENA
Don't worry about us, My Love.
You just watch that sweet behind I
love so much!
DOLPH
Take care, Dragon Queen!
SERENA
You too Large One. Protect my man!
With a scream from Balrog, Serena takes to the sky.
Corwin cups his ear to listen to the ear phone.
CORWIN
Good! Keep them busy until we get there...
They've started the assault on the castle.
The Cyclops stomps in behind them. It spies the two men and screams.
DOLPH
What did you do? Construct this
thing with a serious case of
hemorrhoids?
The two take off.
EXT. THE CASTLE MALVALLE - SAME
Four catapults launch fiery attacks on the castle. The mutants are arranged in a
ragged line before the castle.
Malvalle's men line the ramparts. They return fire.
EXT. THE RAMPARTS - SAME
Adomass stands next to Malvalle as he directs his men.
KING MALVALLE
Something's wrong. They do not attack
in earnest.
A fireball descends toward the king. Adomass waves a hand. The fireball explodes
harmlessly in front of them.
ADOMASS
Corwin has awakened his pet.
KING MALVALLE
Then we have no choice.
Malvalle turns to a warrior.
KING MALVALLE
Open the pit wide. Let Corwin's foul creatures
meet our brothers from hell!
ADOMASS
Look!
Corwin and Dolph run before the Cyclops.
KING MALVALLE
By the dark Gods, Adomass, he has
summoned one of the nameless ones.
ADOMASS
It looks to be Cuthula, the nameless one.
Malvalle looks at Adomass like he's an idiot.
KING MALVALLE
How could he be called-
Oh, never mind. Get that pit opened!
The two duck. Balrog zooms over the ramparts with a stream of fire.
Adomass returns fire with bolts of energy from his hands.
The dragon screams in pain.
Serena holds on for dear life.
EXT. THE PIT BEHIND THE CASTLE - SAME
Two warriors crank a winch. A large flat rock draws back from a pit in the ground.
A mist issues forth from the pit. Cries of evil wail forth from the pit.
A menagerie of demons, crawl, fly and slither from the pit.
A flying demon drops on one of the warriors.
FLYING DEMON
Brutus!!! How are you my putrid friend?
BRUTUS
Drumond! Evil brother! A feast of souls
awaits us over by yonder castle wall.
Drumond looks over his shoulder.
DRUMOND
Ahhhhh, lunch.
The demon takes to the air.
BRUTUS
Fly brothers! Feast on the blood
of our enemies. Kill! Destroy! Murder!
By the Dark Gods, life is good!
EXT. THE FIELD BEFORE THE CASTLE - SAME
The Cyclops strides amongst Corwin's war machines.
Corwin's mutants scatter.
The Cyclops picks up a catapult to examine it. A fireball from the castle hits
him in the knee. He screams.
The Cyclops tosses the catapult at the castle wall. A portion caves in taking men with it.
A black dragon strafes the Cyclops with fire. The Cyclops recoils.
The dragon wheels on a wing to come in again.
As the dragon draws close, the Cyclops breathes his own fire.
The dragon's head incinerates as it flies by. It crashes in a ball of flame.
EXT. CORWIN'S POSITION ON THE FIELD - SAME
CORWIN
Damn! I didn't know it could do that!
DOLPH
Look! Malvalle must have opened
up the pit!
A swarm of demons harries Balrog and Serena. She fights desperately.
A black column of demons descends on the Cyclops.
Corwin cups the earphone of his headset.
CORWIN
All units fall back to cover!
EXT. ON THE FIELD OF BATTLE - SAME
Hewey and a group of Corwin's mutants fight a swarm of ground demons.
EXT. THE FIELD BEFORE THE CASTLE - SAME
The Cyclops bat at the demons that are harassing them like they were gnats.
The beast lets loose with a stream of fire incinerating most of the demons
around him. He stomps on toward the castle.
EXT. THE RAMPARTS - SAME
Malvalle grabs Adomass.
KING MALVALLE
Do something! It approaches.
Adomass shrugs off Malvalle.
He stands to the parapets.
He lets loose two massive bolts of energy into the approaching monster.
The Cyclops staggers back. A black hole is blown in its chest. It drops to its knees.
A cheer goes up from the castle wall!
The hole in the Cyclops chest closes up.
ADOMASS
Uh-oh
EXT. CORWIN'S POSITION ON THE FIELD - SAME
Corwin slaps Dolph's back.
CORWIN
Hah! Bet he didn't count on that! A
self regenerating beast.
DOLPH
Uh-oh.
CORWIN
What?
DOLPH
Time to party.
A host of demons fall on Corwin and Dolph. They battle for their lives.
EXT. THE RAMPARTS - SAME
Adomass changes to lightening bolts. The beast comes on.
Adomass gestures. A black hole opens up before the beast. It steps into the pit.
The pit is up to the beasts waist.
Adomass gestures. The pit closes. The beast can not move.
KING MALVALLE
Fire on the beast!
Fire concentrates on the Cyclops.
EXT. CORWIN'S POSITION ON THE FIELD - SAME
Dolph is dragged from his horse.
Corwin covers him with a flash of lightning.
Demons explode.
Dolph gets to his feet.
He hacks through to Corwin's side. Corwin deflects a large rock with a shield, but
is knocked from his horse.
EXT. BEFORE THE RAMPARTS - SAME
The Cyclops scoops up rock and earth from around him. He lets fly with this hail of earth.
EXT. THE RAMPARTS - SAME
Adomass and Malvalle are knocked over backwards off of the ramparts.
EXT. BEFORE THE RAMPARTS - SAME
The beast pulls itself from the earth.
Furiously it attacks the castle wall. Punch after punch reduces the wall to rubble.
It steps into the courtyard.
With upraised arms Adomass stands before the beast. Black energy explodes from
the wizard.
The Cyclops staggers back.
The tentacles around its leg snatch up the warriors about it. The appendages
rend the warriors.
The Cyclops raises a foot. It stomps Adomass like a bug.
Malvalle races for one of the castle towers.
EXT. CORWIN'S POSITION ON THE FIELD - SAME
Corwin throws a boulder through several demons.
The demons retreat to the castle.
Corwin cups the earphone of his headset.
CORWIN
All right, bring it to them!
Corwin and Dolph take after the retreating demons.
EXT. THE CASTLE COURTYARD - SAME
The demons are thick about the Cyclops. It bats at them in blind fury.
It stumbles backward into the back wall of the castle.
The wall goes down. The Cyclops falls down. The pit is nearby. Demons
swarm over the fallen beast.
INT. A ROOM IN THE TOWER - SAME
Lucy and Drusilla watch the battle from the tower.
King Malvalle bursts into the room.
KING MALVALLE
It goes badly! Adomass is gone. We must flee.
LUCINDA
Daddy, look, the beast is down!
DRUSILLA
Isn't that Cuthula the nameless one?
King Malvalle joins them at the window.
KING MALVALLE
So said Adomass.
DRUSILLA
That big dumb ox always did have
such a temper.
EXT. THE FALLEN RAMPARTS - SAME
Corwin, Dolph and a host of mutants storm through what is left of the main gate.
They engage any demon not involved with the Cyclops.
A dozen demons race toward them.
Corwin draws a couple of mini-uzis. He blasts the rushing demons back to hell.
DOLPH
Hey! Where'd you get those?
CORWIN
Just something I conjured up. Want one?
DOLPH
Yeah.
Corwin throws Dolph the weapon and a couple of clips.
They cover the mutants' assaults.
EXT.THE FALLEN CYCLOPS POSITION - SAME
The harried Cyclops manages to stand. It looks at the cloud of demons
streaming from the pit.
It looks at the tower. It goes to the tower.
The beast wraps its arms around the tower and begins to rock it.
EXT. CORWIN'S POSITION - SAME
Dolph points.
DOLPH
Corwin look! Its going to plug up the pit!
CORWIN
That tower will never hold!
The tower is already beginning to crumble.
INT. A ROOM IN THE TOWER - SAME
Malvalle and his daughters scream as they are tossed about.
EXT. CORWIN'S POSITION - SAME
Corwin raises his hands. He mumbles an incantation. A bubble of force leaves
his hands.
The bubble surrounds the tower keeping it from breaking apart.
The Cyclops rips the tower out by the roots.
He upends the tower.
INT. A ROOM IN THE TOWER - SAME
Malvalle and his daughters fall to the ceiling of the room.
EXT.THE CYCLOPS POSITION - SAME
The Cyclops holds the tower over its head. It rams the tower down into the pit,
sealing it up. The Cyclops flames the demons about it.
A cheer goes up from mutants.
Balrog flies through, flaming the demons about the castle.
The demons scatter.
In moments the battle is done.
The Cyclops stares at the sealed pit. Its chest heaves from its efforts.
An eerie silence falls over the battlefield.
CORWIN
Way to go Nameless One!
The Cyclops slowly turns it head towards the gnat who congratulates it.
The Cyclops growls.
DOLPH
Oh shit.
Corwin cups the earphone of his headset.
CORWIN
Everyone fall back!
Dolph is already gone. Corwin flees.
The Cyclops turns and stomps after him.
EXT. BEFORE THE FALLEN RAMPARTS - SAME
In pursuit of Corwin, the beast steps over the fallen gate.
Corwin runs to the pack horse with the missiles. Dolph is already there.
Dolph throws Corwin a missile.
In tandem they arm the missiles and fire. Great black holes are blown in the beast.
It staggers back. The holes close up.
DOLPH
I don't think the missiles were
such a good idea!
CORWIN
Keep firing!
The duo let loose with two more missiles.
The beast snatches them out of the air. It stuffs them in its mouth for spite.
It's stomach rumbles from the explosions from within. Smoke curls from its
smiling lips.
CORWIN
On second thought... Run away!
Dolph and Corwin mount up.
The Cyclops starts to follow. It spies the village in the distance.
DOLPH
Corwin!
Corwin is racing away. Dolph chases after Corwin.
Dolph snatches up the reins of Corwin's horse. He yanks them to a stop.
DOLPH
Corwin! Its headed toward the village.
Corwin follows Dolph's gesture.
CORWIN
Oh shit!
DOLPH
Do something! Those people don't
stand a chance.
CORWIN
Got any ideas, Engineer?
DOLPH
Its your monster.
Corwin looks desperate.
CORWIN
All right go ahead! Say it! I told you so!
DOLPH
Just do something!
Corwin stands in his stirrups. He lets loose with two bolts of lightening into the
beasts back.
The Cyclops stumbles forward. It turns and glowers at Corwin.
CORWIN
How was that?
DOLPH
Fine.
CORWIN
Now what?
The beast slowly rises and turns on the duo.
DOLPH
Let's go ask Magnus.
CORWIN
Good idea!
The two take off with the Cyclops hot on their heels.
EXT. THE ROCKY PLAINS OF THE WASTED LANDS - SAME
Dolph and Corwin ride with the Cyclops right behind them.
Corwin cups the earphone of his headset.
CORWIN
All units! Meet us at Magnus!
DOLPH
He better know what to do or no one gets out alive.
EXT. THE CREVICE BEFORE THE LAKE THAT IS MAGNUS - SAME
Dolph and Corwin race before the beast along the stream that feeds Magnus.
Corwin turns. He lets loose more power. The crevice caves in slowing the beast.
He rides on.
EXT. ON THE SHORE OF MAGNUS - SAME
Hewey and several mutants wait as Dolph and Corwin ride up. They hear the
cries of the Cyclops.
Corwin dismounts on the run. He rushes to the substance that is Magnus.
CORWIN
Magnus! We've got a problem!
Hands form from the fleshy goo. They sign to Corwin.
Dolph joins Corwin.
DOLPH
What did he say?
CORWIN
What do you mean we, White Man?
Come on, Magnus. The Cyclops is
right on our heels.
Hands sign. Corwin looks exasperated.
DOLPH
And?
CORWIN
He wants to know why I brought it here?
DOLPH
Oh shit!
The Cyclops rushes into the clearing. Everyone scatters to hide.
Balrog hits the Cyclops from behind with a cloud of flame.
Balrog zooms over the lake.
The Cyclops strides into the lake after the dragon. The waters that are Magnus
flee the tentacled hooves of the beast.
Balrog spins on a wing. Serena pulls on the dragons reins.
The dragon settles on the far shore.
The Cyclops stops in the center of the lake. That which is Magnus begins
to engulf the creature.
DOLPH
Look!
The Cyclops screams in rage as the lake engulfs him. The fleshy waters
seem to flow into the beast.
The beast thrashes about.
Black clouds form overhead. Lightning spills forth.
Steam rises from the screaming creature. Great winds blow.
The beast is consumed. It staggers about. The lake substance oozes into the creature.
The creature morphs into the towering form of an old man.
Wizardly robes form about the sky scraping figure.
The mutants come out from behind the rocks to watch the resurrection of Magnus.
Balrog takes to wing. The dragon lands near Corwin.
Serena dismounts. She joins Dolph and Corwin.
The wizard opens his arms wide. A wave of power covers Corwin and cohorts.
Serena and the mutants fall to the ground in agony.
CORWIN
Magnus! No!
The mutants all morph back into the humans they were.
Magnus transforms back into a normal sized man.
Serena kneels. Corwin joins her.
He gently removes her mask. Drusilla's face is there smiling at Corwin.
SERENA
Corwin, he has restored us!
The lovers embrace.
Magnus joins Dolph and the lovers. The mutants crowd around them.
DOLPH
That was quite a show.
MAGNUS
It would seem that my apprentice
has not yet learned how to clean
up after himself.
CORWIN
It worked out, didn't it?
MAGNUS
Happily so. What of Adomass
and Malvalle?
DOLPH
Adomass got stomped and Malvalle
got sent home.
MAGNUS
Then it is done.
Dolph holds up his hands. He flashes his steel fingernails. He feels his
mutated ears.
DOLPH
What about me? Can you change
me back?
MAGNUS
Possibly. In time. Your being from
another world makes this a difficult task.
DOLPH
I keep hearing that.
SERENA
I like the ears, large one.
CORWIN
Although you're going to bring new
meaning to filing your nails.
Dolph frowns and then laughs. Everyone starts laughing.
INT. CORWIN'S THRONE ROOM - SAME
Dolph stands before Magnus, Corwin, and Serena. Ex-mutants ring the room.
Dolph looks less animalistic. The steel nails appear to be gone.
CORWIN
I can't convince you to stay? I could
use a good engineer. This place could
use some plumbing.
DOLPH
I have to finish my post-doc.
MAGNUS
You are not yet fully returned to
what you were.
DOLPH
I'll deal with it.
SERENA
You will not be forgotten, Warrior. You
helped our people rid themselves of a
grave sickness.
CORWIN
Yeah! What she said.
Dolph bows.
DOLPH
Maybe someday I can return
for a visit?
Dolph throws a questioning look at Magnus.
MAGNUS
It can be done.
DOLPH
I just hope you're better at landings
then Adomass was?
Magnus steps in front of Dolph. He raises his hands.
Power coalesces.
MAGNUS
There is only one way to find out.
SERENA
Farewell, Large One!
CORWIN
Later, Dude!
Cries of salutation and best wishes ring out from the room. A blinding
white light engulfs Dolph.
EXT. THE FIELD OF THE WILL'O WISP - SAME
Dolph starts. His eyes open to a star filled night sky.
He sits up and looks at his stalled vehicle. A train whistles in the distance.
Dolph falls back to stare at the sky.
DOLPH
A dream?
He holds a hand up in front of his face. He flexes. Steel nails pop out from finger tips.
DOLPH
That was no dream!
Dolph laughs out loud to the night sky.
