Barbara came over this evening and was simply besides herself. Lester Donovan was murdered sometime last night. I knew Barbara was fond of the man, but I never realized how much so.

I've never seen her like this before. I've seen her deal with tragedies time and again with aplomb. At times she's seemed almost distant, but this tragic event has obviously devastated her.

I've asked her to take the day off tomorrow and have a picnic with me in Deciduous. I think she'll go. Maybe I can get her mind of off this terrible crime.

This is the first moment I've had to myself since I got knocked out of bed last night. I've tried to get more information from Barbara, but she's been unavailable. My comlinks are queued up a hundred deep by angry residents. Half of them think we're under attack by aliens. It's going to be an interesting day.
