LOCATION - LAP - THE VIRTUAL VERANDA AT THE EAGLE PUB
VISUAL SCAN - Five cafe tables sit in the sand of a holoprojected beach. Simulated waves break on the virtual shore of a hot afternoon. Jack enters the place and scans the tables. A gull cries overhead as Jack spies Ms. Cannon at the table closest to the water. He slogs through the sand cursing himself for wearing black today. It maybe a simulated sun but it's still hot.
Ms. Cannon spies Jack as he approaches the table. She smiles and motions
to the empty seat across from her. A frosty beer awaits Jack.
I took the liberty of getting you a beer. This place is
pretty, but it can make you thirsty.
How's the head? I heard you had a bit of an altercation
Jack takes a sip from the beer.
Polite people have altercations. I was ambushed.
But your alive.
Jack rubs his still aching head
If you call this living. So what's up Cannon? You
After a careful examination of all of the evidence I
have come to the conclusion we may have an
intruder on board.
The evidence is irrefutable.
Gimma a break. Aliens?
I'm not making any claims as to the... origin
of our visitor, just that we have one.
And you think this has something to do with
For all I know this may BE Shadow. I convinced
the Admiral to run an exercise on the surface of
Genesis. The troops think they're all on some
kind of military egg hunt. Actually they're trying
to find the intruder's craft for us. Once we have it
we'll know what we're up against.
Sounds like a plan.
Until that happens I'll be going through all the
data you and your hacker friend gathered yesterday.
Good. I thought I was going to have to do it and
that shit bores me to tears.
Ms. Cannon looks up. She's spies another woman giving Jack the evil eye.
Ms. Cannon nods in Ellie's direction.
Do you know this person?
Jack spins to find a furious Ellie staring at him. She spins on a heel and exits
I can't win. I just can't win.
Not for long if my luck holds up.
The jealous type, huh?
Not usually, but lately things have been happening
that make it easy to be pissed of at me.
Jack sighs. Ms. Cannon rises.
I'm sure you'll work it out. I'll be in touch.
Ms. Cannon leaves the virtual veranda. As Jack finishes his beer he
watches her leave and marvels out how the woman can walk through
ankle deep sand and still move like a cat.
