JULIA
Corwin!!!!!

Varchone jumps from the shadows with his saber. He slashes halfway through Corwin's thigh. Corwin goes down in agony.

CORWIN
Varchone! You bastard!

Varchone leaps to the bed to cut Julia free. He lifts her to himself with his new found superhuman strength.

VARCHONE
I have kept my promise, Corwin.

CORWIN
Let her go!

VARCHONE
But naught was said about that! She is mine! Or none have her.

JULIA
I would never be with you, Pig. I choose whom I will be with.

VARCHONE
And that would be this one?

Varchone points at Corwin with his saber.

JULIA
Yes!

VARCHONE
Then, so be it!

Varchone runs Julia through from behind.

CORWIN
No!!!!!!!

Varchone laughs, tosses Julia's body onto Corwin and jumps out a window.

CORWIN
Varchone!!!!! I will follow you until the ends of time! I swear I will rip your stinking heart from your chest!

Corwin clutches Julia close.

EXT. TREE LINED BOSTON STREET - SAME

Susie is fairly dragging a hesitant Corwin down the street.

SUSIE
We're almost there.

CORWIN
Is this going to take long, Susie? I have some very important things to do. I'm hungry.

SUSIE
You and your diet. You're such a bitch when you're hungry.

Corwin smiles at the thought. They stop under a large tree. Susie pulls out the directions Varchone gave her.

SUSIE
He said to meet him here.

CORWIN
Who did?

There is a rustle of leaves in the tree above them. Varchone's cape trails him as he drops on the couple.

As Varchone lands, he slashes Corwin's thigh. Corwin goes down in agony. Susie screams.

CORWIN
(total surprise)
Varchone!

VARCHONE
Corwin! My beloved Father. It has been so long.

SUSIE
(shocked)
Corwin is your father?

VARCHONE
After a fashion. He made me what I am.

CORWIN
At your request, Vile Beast.

VARCHONE
And I have no regrets, as you know. These more than two centuries have been such a playful romp through humanity.

Varchone sees Corwin's leg is almost healed. He impales it again. Corwin screams.

Susie punches Varchone in the back. He looks at her and smiles.

Varchone backhands her. She goes down against the tree.

CORWIN
Susie!

VARCHONE
You always did heal so fast, Corwin. All except your heart.

CORWIN
Oh you bastard! How I will make you pay.

Varchone circles Corwin as he talks. Occasionally, he sticks Corwin to keep him injured.

VARCHONE
Pathetic, redundant words, Corwin. How many years have you been saying them? Who fled whom in Bavaria?

CORWIN
I am here now, Varchone. This time no one flees.

VARCHONE
Yes. It is time to conclude our little tete-a-tete. But I will not be the one who dies the real death.

CORWIN
We shall see.

Varchone laughs and sticks Corwin.

VARCHONE
I have grown very powerful over the last ninety-some years. Surely my powers equal yours now.

Susie stands, aims and unloads a bottle of pepper mace in Varchone's face.

The demon screams and falls back. Susie grabs Corwin to help him up.

Varchone cuts blindly about him.

SUSIE
Come on!

Corwin and Susie run down the street.

VARCHONE
Foul Bitch! I'll have your heart for that.

EXT. FURTHER DOWN THE STREET - SAME

Corwin's leg heals as they run. Susie helps him.

Varchone slams them from behind, knocking them both down.

Varchone snatches a struggling Susie and clutches her to his breast.

VARCHONE
It seems I am always skewering your women, Corwin.

CORWIN
No, Varchone! Leave her! I'll do anything.

VARCHONE
Pathetic, Immortal Fool. For all your strength and all your powers, you shall always be on you knees before me.

Susie screams as Varchone runs her through. Corwin screams.

CORWIN
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Varchone smiles as he lets Susie's body slip to the ground. He bounces the tip of his saber up and down.

VARCHONE
And now it is your turn, Corwin.

Corwin's face is a mask of pain and anger. He inhales and throws his hands before him.

A rush of flame launches at Varchone.

Varchone throws up his arms to form a psychic shield. The flames rush about him. The length of his sword that is not protected melts.

The flames cease.

VARCHONE
Temper, temper.

Varchone looks at his ruined sword and throws it away.

Corwin motions again, but Varchone is too slow.

Some unseen psychic power launches Varchone off of his feet, fifty feet down the road.

Corwin stands. He is just about healed.

CORWIN
It seems power breeds sloppiness, Varchone. Come. Let us have one final dance.

Corwin chases after Varchone. Varchone stands in time to take a kick to the chest. He is thrown another fifty feet into a parked car.

The impact crunches the vehicle. Varchone tears a wheel off and throws it at the oncoming Corwin.

Corwin takes the tire in the chest. He goes over backward into a wall.

Varchone motions. Corwin ducks. The wall above him explodes backward.

Varchone flees into the night.

EXT. BOSTON CITY - STREET

Varchone flees down the street. Corwin is hot on his heels.

Varchone pulverizes the mailbox.

Corwin throws what's left of the mailbox into Varchone's face. Varchone knocks it away.

Corwin rolls to his feet. Looks at the mailbox.

VARCHONE
Tch-tch, Corwin. That's a federal offense.

LEADER 2
Just like that!

LEADER 1
Someone's popin' our boys. There's gonna be no one left.

LEADER 2
Say we find the mother fucker who's been doin' us. What then?

LEADER 1
Let's find him first. Then we'll worry about what's next.

Corwin and Varchone burst through a brick wall, a dusty tangle.

Corwin stands Varchone up. He slams him with a blow that bounces him off of the opposite alley wall.

The boys stand back.

Varchone leaps on Corwin. Corwin knocks him down. Varchone grabs Corwin's feet, yanks. Corwin falls backward.

Varchone grabs one of the leader's bodyguards. The large youth is like a puppet in Varchone's hands.

Varchone brings the youth's Uzi to bear on Corwin.

Corwin scootches on hands and knees amongst the youths.

Varchone sprays gun fire after him. Gang members go down.

A melee ensues. Gang members open up on Varchone and each other.

Corwin grabs an armed youth. He uses him as a shield.

Corwin regains his balance and launches the body at Varchone. Varchone is knocked over backward.

A gang member shoves a 9mm into Corwin's stomach. He fires away.

Corwin staggers, growls, snatches the gun away.

Varchone stands. He is surprised as several gang members turn fire on him.

Corwin launches the now unarmed gang member at Varchone.

Varchone knocks him away.

Corwin unloads a magazine into Varchone. Varchone staggers.

Varchone snatches up a screaming gang member. He charges Corwin.

Corwin snatches up a gang member.

They fight using the bodies as weapons.

Varchone slips. Corwin knocks him over backwards into a wall. Corwin tosses the body after him.

Varchone looks up. He sees a fire escape.

Corwin motions. A rush of flame ignites from his hands.

Varchone jumps straight up into the fire escape.

Corwin follows. Varchone, with the grace of a superhuman spider, rushes up the fire escape.

EXT. TOP OF THE BUILDING - SAME

Varchone tops the fire escape. He rushes out over the building's roof.

Corwin is not far behind.

EXT. BOSTON CITY SKYLINE - SAME

Two superhuman silhouettes run across the Boston city skyline.

EXT. BUILDING - SAME

Varchone stops at the edge of a building. He spies Dan in the street. His expression changes to excitement.

VARCHONE
(to himself)
More power!

Dan is looking at a map confused.

Varchone jumps off of the building.

EXT. CITY STREET - SAME

Dan looks up. Varchone lands in a crouch opposite him.

DAN
Holy shit!!!!!!

Dan jumps into the car. He screams at Gloria.

DAN
Go!!!!!!

Varchone stands. He is now in front of the Boston Aquarium.

Varchone is tackled from behind by Corwin. They tumble.

They part. They gesture to gather psychic strength. They fire simultaneously. Each is propelled backward.

Varchone rolls to a stop against the Aquarium door. He crashes through.

Corwin gives chase.

Corwin enters through the broken door. Varchone has disappeared. Corwin cautiously makes his way up the ramp

VARCHONE (V.O.)
Just like old times, eh, Corwin? Do we not dance divinely?

CORWIN
(to himself)
Fuck you, Varchone.

VARCHONE (V.O.)
(mocking)
I heard that! Such language!

Corwin makes his way amongst the various caged sea creatures. An eerie silence settles.

Varchone's shadow flits from darkness to darkness.

The sharks circle the tank. With cold black eyes they watch what transpires.

Corwin stumbles over the prone body of a janitor. Corwin inspects the body. It has been drained by Varchone.

VARCHONE (V.O.)
Just a little snack, Corwin.

Corwin frowns and walks on.

INT. TOP OF THE AQUARIUM - SAME

Corwin peers down into the reaches of the monstrous central tank. Sharks swim there amoung the other fish.

A great sea turtle breaks the surface. It gives Corwin a quizzical look.

Varchone screams from the shadows. He tackles Corwin from behind. They both fall into the tank.

They surface. Corwin dives on Varchone.

With an upper cut Varchone slams Corwin in the chin. Corwin is launched up into the air. He slams against the side of the aquarium.

Varchone is submerged by the power of his blow.

A shark grabs his leg and tears. Varchone is pushed to the surface. He screams in rage.

VARCHONE
Get off of me, Beast!

Varchone punches down. The blow rips the shark off of his leg.

Varchone reaches down. Grabs the shark. He throws it out of the tank.

Corwin climbs out of the tank. Varchone climbs out of the opposite side.

Corwin jumps over the aquarium and into Varchone. They roll back down the ramp, fighting all the way.

Varchone kicks Corwin into an aquarium holding a massive forty pound lobster. The lobster latches on to Corwin.

Varchone flees. Corwin screams.

Corwin rips the lobster off. Throws it to the ground.

CORWIN
If I had the time, you would be MY dinner!!!

Corwin chases after Varchone.

EXT. STREET OUTSIDE THE AQUARIUM - SAME

Down the street from the aquarium Gail and Dan sit in their idling car.

Varchone exits the aquarium. Spies the couple. They screech off. Varchone gives chase.

EXT. THE WAREHOUSE - MOMENTS LATER

Gail and Dan screech to a halt outside the warehouse. The huge metal, double sliding doors stand open The two run inside with Varchone close behind them.

INT. THE WAREHOUSE - SAME

Agatha and Carl look up as Gail and Dan run into the room.

DAN
Close the fucking doors!!!!

Carl slams a button. Alarms go off as the doors close.

The two couples back away as Varchone hits the doors. The doors buckle, but hold.

GAIL
There's two of them!

CARL
Two!

DAN
Where's our fearless leader?

AGATHA
I don't know.

GAIL
Where's Julia?

There's a slam. Corwin and Varchone burst through the doors like they were paper. Varchone rolls into the center of the room. The four make a wide circle about him.

Varchone slowly stands.

VARCHONE
What foolish mortals are these?

Dan trains a laser sight on Varchone.

DAN
Mortals that don't like blood-sucking maggots like you.

Varchone turns to Dan and the insult.

VARCHONE
I shall kill you first... slowly.

Varchone looks them over each in turn. He stops on the black clad Agatha.

VARCHONE
Who are you? The grandmother of all ninjas?

Varchone turns to look for Corwin. He screams to the blackness around him.

VARCHONE
You leave your little mortal friends to do what you can not, Corwin?

CARL
Who's Corwin?

Varchone looks confused.

VARCHONE
Do not play with me Mortal. I have no time for such games.

GAIL
You're going to pay for what you did to Cindy.

VARCHONE
Cindy?

Varchone smiles, then laughs.

VARCHONE
Ah yes! Cindy! The little psychic I had for dinner the other day.

Agatha looks horrified.

VARCHONE
Poor little Cindy Lou who. A tasty morsel what? Who's next?

JULIA
Why don't you try me shithead?

Julia steps through the hole that Varchone and Corwin made.

Varchone steps back in shock. Disbelief is written across his face.

VARCHONE
Julia! It is not possible!

The dark stranger's voice booms from his dais.

STRANGER
Possible, Varchone? What do you know of what is possible. Your petty mind can comprehend nothing but the execution of petty little evils.

Varchone turns to the dais. Varchone is unnerved.

VARCHONE
Who are you. Whose mind is closed to me! Show yourself.

Corwin steps from the shadows.

DAN
That's the other vampire.

The humans, other than Julia, become unnerved.

CORWIN
You woke me from a sound sleep, Varchone. The psychics scream when you steal their blood.

VARCHONE
When I steal their power!

CORWIN
And what has it brought you? You still spend your time skulking about in the dark, stealing the lives of the innocent. A petty thief in the cosmic scheme of things.

VARCHONE
(proud)
I am Varchone! Dark God of the night! Tens of thousands have filled my veins!

Corwin turns to Carl.

CORWIN
Are you impressed?

Carl shrugs like it is no big deal. Varchone fumes.

VARCHONE
And what of you Corwin? What great contribution have you made to the cosmos. You, who are centuries older than I.

CORWIN
Centuries? More like millennia, Varchone.

Varchone staggers at the statement.

CORWIN
I remain humble before God, Varchone. Something you could never possibly understand. My work is best done in the shadows.

VARCHONE
Oh please! Noble Immortal, you deal in death just as I.

CORWIN
You pollute the world. I attempt to beautify it by exorcising its human cancers.

Varchone sneers.

VARCHONE
Such pathetic justification. You claim humility, yet you do not hesitate to play the part of judge, jury and executioner. By what right do you wear these robes?

CORWIN
You know my powers, Varchone, better than anyone. I can see the evil in men's minds. They confess of their own accord whether they mean to or not.

Varchone snorts in disgust. He looks around him.

VARCHONE
So I see you have taken to hiding behind the skirts of mortals, Corwin. Are the years catching up with you?

CORWIN
They are about to catch up with you, Varchone. I knew you would seek these mortals out to satisfy your gross appetites. Like a moth to the flame, you came.

VARCHONE
And so you fantasize that this little coven will be my undoing?

Varchone sweeps his arms about him.

VARCHONE
And this one, Corwin, the spitting image of Julia. I think I will have her heart this night also.

JULIA
You can try, shithead, but I was planning on having your head.

Varchone laughs out loud.

VARCHONE
Oh, she is sweet. I rather like her sense of humor.

Varchone spins and leaps at Corwin in a flash. The two go over backwards into the dark.

INT. BASE OF THE STAIRS BEHIND THE DAIS - SAME

Corwin and Varchone tumble over backwards to the base of some stairs. Corwin kicks Varchone off of him.

Corwin runs up the stairs. Varchone follows

Julia, followed by her compatriots arrive seconds later.

INT. UPPER LEVEL OF THE WAREHOUSE - SAME

Corwin vaults into the upper room.

One wall is mostly glass and looks out on Boston harbor.

Another wall houses a glass room filled with computers.

This is the room that found the seven sons and daughters.

Another wall holds a display of bladed weapons.

Varchone vaults into the room. He looks out the window.

VARCHONE
Nice view.

He looks at the wall of weapons. Corwin and Varchone simultaneously leap to the wall of weapons. Each lands on the wall to snatch a sword.

Julia and company enter the room. They throw a switch and steel bars fall in place over the iron door.

Corwin and Varchone begin a deadly duel of superhuman swordsmanship.

The mortals arrange themselves into a circle around the two vampires.

Corwin finally knocks Varchone's sword from his hand. He swings for the killing blow. Varchone motions in desperation.

Corwin is knocked across the room with a psychic blow. His sword goes flying.

Varchone dives for his sword. Dan shoots it out of reach.

Varchone looks at Dan and growls. He motions. Flames rush on Dan.

Agatha jumps in front of Dan with a shielding gesture. A psychic shield diverts the flames around them.

VARCHONE
Bitch!

GLORIA
This is for Cindy!

Varchone looks at Gloria just as she motions. A rush of flame catches him by surprise. He blocks too late, and his cloak catches on fire.

Carl jumps forward and motions. Flames roar. Varchone gestures to divert the flame. The fire starts rushes up his back. He can not pat it out and defend himself.

Agatha motions. New flames rush. Varchone screams.

Dan fires. Varchone begins to burn in earnest.

VARCHONE
No!!!!!!!

Julia walks over and grabs Varchone's fallen sword. She looks down the length of it and the sword erupts into fire.

She calmly walks over to the burning Varchone.

JULIA
I believe I owe you this from a previous life.

She swings with fury. Varchone's flaming head separates from his body and his headless body explodes.

The mortals shield themselves from the flying, flaming vampire bits.

The darkness returns to the room.

Corwin is silhouetted against the window framing Boston harbor.

Julia notices him. She drops the sword.

JULIA
You used us. You used all of us to get at him.

CORWIN
I joined you to destroy him. Had I not, you would all be dead, and he would have been that much stronger.

JULIA
Why all the games? Why didn't you just kill him yourself.

CORWIN
Varchone has eluded me for over two hundred years. His power grew very quickly. A long time ago he learned how to hide his mind from me. Then a hundred years ago I underestimated him and he almost killed me. I was burned very badly. It took me that long to recuperate... In the end I did what I thought had to be done.

AGATHA
And Cindy is dead.

CORWIN
And thousands of others, Mother. Some of them very dear to me. The killing is at an end.

DAN
Is it? You're still around. You're just like him.

JULIA
(desperate)
No! He's not like that animal.

CARL
He's a freakin' vampire, Julia, he has to go.

CORWIN
What are you saying.

DAN
We're saying you gotta go.

CORWIN
(angry)
I have saved you!

JULIA
He's right you can't just...

Gloria grabs Julia and pulls her out of the way. Corwin backs up against the window.

CORWIN
No! You fools! You don't know what you are doing!

Julia screams as she is thrown to the ground. Glori turns and fires.

Dan, Carl, and Agatha join Glori as one. The flame smashes into Corwin.

JULIA
No!!!!!

He is blown as one gigantic fireball out of the window. He arcs out into the night over the Boston Harbor. He disappears like a shooting star.

Julia weeps on the floor.

EXT. BOSTON PARK - DAY

Julia walks through a park oblivious to her surroundings. She walks dejectedly among the crowds of people. The lines forged by tears can be seen streaking her makeup.

INT. JULIA'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Julia enters her apartment. She stumbles to the kitchen. She pours herself a glass of wine. She sobs.

INT. JULIA'S BEDROOM - SAME

Julia is dressed in a nightgown. She throws down the rest of her wine. The lights are turned down low.

She flops down onto her four poster bed. She looks up into the canopy.

Corwin is there. He drops down onto her with a vengeance.

Julia screams in terror. Corwin has landed so that she is caged by his limbs. Corwin mockingly screams as loud as she does.

Corwin rolls off of Julia. He laughs until tears stream down his face.

Julia stares at him in disbelief.

CORWIN
(through laughter)
I got you so good!!!!!!

JULIA
You're alive!

Corwin takes a few seconds to regain his composure.

CORWIN
It would seem so, Lady.

Corwin tickles Julia and she screams. This time she smiles.

JULIA
But how! I saw you engulfed in flame! Blown out a window!

Corwin looks at her like she's an idiot.

CORWIN
Blown out to where?

JULIA
(realization)
Boston Harbor.

CORWIN
Why do you think waterfront property is so expensive? Location, location, location.

JULIA
You planned it this way!

CORWIN
I knew Agatha, Dan and the rest would turn on me. Houdini would have been proud of my escape.

JULIA
You knew? Or do you mean you planted these thoughts in their heads.

CORWIN
(smiles)
I couldn't have these mortals with, their new found powers, worrying about another vampire loose in the world.

JULIA
What about me?

Corwin pulls close.

CORWIN
I knew you couldn't live without me.

Julia smiles.

JULIA
You're so vain.

CORWIN
An affliction that comes with profound age.

JULIA
(teasing)
I don't know, Corwin. I don't know about living with one of the undead.

CORWIN
Yuk! I hate that term. I prefer the near living.

JULIA
Well, I guess I owe you at least one lifetime. Varchone cut my last one short.

Corwin grabs her for a passionate kiss.

CORWIN
You can't blame him his jealousy, really. He was consistent right up until the end.

Kiss.

JULIA
Consistent.

Kiss.

CORWIN
Yes. He lost his head over you.

Laughter, music and roll the credits.

The end?
