VISUAL SCAN - Corporal Jolanda Vasquez types away at her console. Through her headset she monitors the progress of three squads out on the surface of Genesis. The room is filled with noncoms relaying information to the men in the field from the superiors.
SERGEANT SCAGNETTI (V.O.) Comcon! This Gunner Sergeant Scagnetti! I think we found something. The Corporal adjusts down the volume on her headset to the sound of the Sergeant's booming voice. CORPORAL VASQUEZ Stand by Sergeant I'm conferencing in Lieutenant Wu. Corporal Vasquez touches some panels before her and patches in the Lieutenant. LIEUTENANT WU What is it Corporal? CORPORAL VASQUEZ A Sergeant Scagnetti thinks he found something sir. SERGEANT SCAGNETTI (V.O.) Think! Hell, I know I found something. Why did they make our link look like a transport? LIEUTENANT WU Oh shit. SERGEANT SCAGNETTI (V.O.) What was that Comcon? LIEUTENANT WU Sergeant give me a visual. Corporal patch in Captain Polanski and the Admiral. CORPORAL VASQUEZ Yes sir! The Lieutenant swivels his chair around to view the wall of monitors behind him. He punches a LCD panel in front of him and a block of monitor in the center goes blank. After a few seconds the monitors come back to life to reveal the Walking Dude's transport at the base of the small crater. SERGEANT SCAGNETTI (V.O.) There you go Lieutenant. We're not picking up much more then a couple of milliwatts of energy from the thing. Do you want us to get a closer scan. The Lieutenant mulls this over. LIEUTENANT WU Corporal where are the Captain and the Admiral? CORPORAL VASQUEZ They'll be on shortly, sir, they're dealing with a problem in one of the aft sectors. SERGEANT SCAGNETTI (V.O.) What's the big deal, Lieutenant? It's not reading any energy to speak of. To be honest I've been out here five hours and I'd like to put this game to bed. The Lieutenant stares at the transport in front of him. He's never seems it's like before, but it does look like a human design. LIEUTENANT WU Alright, but be careful. Assume it is hostile and dangerous. Give me a multi-scan and then pull back. SERGEANT SCAGNETTI (V.O.) Yes, sir. The Lieutenant watches as Scagnetti and the rest of his squad move into position. He smiles at the efficiency of the fire teams as they cover each others progress. The dodge from boulder to boulder until they are only several feet away from the transport. The Lieutenant's smile turns to horror as he watches the squad disappear in a flash of light. All of Genesis shudders as a true nuclear explosion rocks the place. A cacaphony of alarms go off as the color drains from the Lieutenant's face.
